Girl Praying

Prayer Life

St Augustine’s has a strong belief and culture surrounding the importance of prayer as an absolute foundation in everything we do.

Prayer Ministry Team

We love to offer to pray for people during and after our services, either for themselves or on behalf of someone else. Members of our Prayer Ministry Team have received training to support others and are available around service times.

There is also a prayer list held in confidence.  Please contact if you would like to be added to the prayer list.  People on this list are prayed for by our Prayer Ministry Team and can also be prayed for by name at our services (if you choose).

Prayer Meetings

There are a number of organised prayer events held throughout the month, usually held in the Lantern Room, with church leaders encouraged to attend at least one weekly prayer meeting.

  • Morning Prayer – every Wednesday at 8.30-9am
  • Prayer Breakfast – Worship and prayer followed by bacon and croissants (7-8am twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays)
  • Monday Evening Prayer Meeting – 7.30-8.30pm (twice a month on the Monday following Prayer Breakfast)
  • Pray for Partners – a small group meets once a month to pray for their non-Christian partners to come to faith. (2nd Wednesdays 12-1pm)

Please check times and dates on the calendar.

Prayer Room

Our Prayer Room is a quiet space for prayer without distraction, for use by church members at any time.  For more information, please email

Prayer@St Augustine’s Facebook group

A private group for our church members to support one another in prayer.

Thy Kingdom Come

We join together each year with Christians throughout the world in the Global Wave of Prayer – 10 days of prayer between Ascension Day and Pentecost.

You can find out more about what we did in 2019 here.

Ipswich in Prayer

We are involved in this Ipswich-wide prayer movement Ipswich in Prayer and in the pioneering Inspiring Ipswich project.

24/7 Prayer and Fasting

Occasionally we have focussed prayer initiatives which may be a 24/7 prayer rota or fasting for a few days.  On the first Saturday of the month, we have a 24 hour prayer rota in the Prayer Room.
