The main morning service is at 10.30am every week and the type of service varies – see below for more information. An area with toys for young children is available in the Lady Chapel, where carers can hear what’s going on in the service.
We also have a said Communion service at 8am every week.
Evening services include Evening Prayer and Holy Communion, as well as more informal services. Times vary – see below for details.
There is always at least one service of Holy Communion each Sunday.
Main Services at 10.30am
Our main Parish Communion service is on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays and follows the Common Worship service book, lasting about an hour and a half. Our Worship Team lead our worship, which is usually a mixture of traditional and modern hymns accompanied either by the organ or a selection of instruments including piano, guitar and violin.
Older children are welcome to go to our Get Together service if they wish, which runs concurrently in the church hall, and join us later on in the service.
On the 1st Sunday of the month, we have a Family Service which, during school terms, is also a Parade Service for members of our Scouting and Guiding groups. The groups take it in turns to play a part in the service. The service lasts around an hour.
Worship Together, an informal contemporary worship service, is on 3rd Sundays. The service often features drama and interactive prayer, and occasionally includes Communion. During part of this service, our younger members have a separate activity, linked to the theme, which runs in the Bantoft Vestry.
There are also All-age Worship Services on festivals and other significant occasions throughout the year.
Refreshments are available after all principal services.
Services for Children
Come Together is aimed at families with pre-school children, but everyone is welcome! This informal service is held in the Church Hall on 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays at 9.30am and lasts for 30 minutes. Refreshments and a craft activity are provided after the service. Come Together includes songs, drama, short prayers, a short message, lots of ‘audience participation’ and lots of fun!
Get Together is an informal service aimed at school-aged children and their families. It is held in the Church Hall on 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays between 10.30am and 11.15am. The theme each week is the same as at Come Together, but is delivered in a way that is tailored for an older age group. Sessions include games, songs, prayers and discussion and are delivered in a lively and fun way.
Refreshments are available before the service from 10am.
Children whose parents or carers are in the Parish Communion service in church will join them afterwards.
Evening Prayer is a quiet formal service which follows the pattern set in the Book of Common Prayer. Hymns are sung, accompanied by the organ or piano. There is a sermon relating one or both of the Bible readings to living as a Christian today, and time for prayer. The service starts at 6.30pm on 1st and 2nd Sundays and lasts an hour.
Holy Communion is celebrated on 3rd Sundays at 6.30pm, when the principal service is not usually Communion. Every other month, this includes prayer for healing.
Sunday @4 is an informal service in the Bantoft Vestry adjoining the church and includes refreshments.
Encounter is an evening of contemporary worship and prayer, with a particular emphasis on meeting the Holy Spirit. It’s held in the Lantern Room on the 1st Sunday of the month (except August). Refreshments available before the service.
