Something wonderful is happening at St Augustine’s Ipswich. Over the last four years we have seen remarkable, sustained growth: more families, more young people, more people encountering Jesus for the first time. Our Sundays are fuller, our midweek ministries are busier, and our community hub is increasingly part of the life of our town.

As we approach our Centenary year, we are praying that we would reach more people with the gospel of Jesus than ever before, through invitation and participation, deeper encounter and discipleship, and ministries of compassion.

But as we grow, our need for excellent systems, structures and staff to hold everything together grows too. That’s why we’re looking for an exceptional Operations Manager to join our senior team — someone who understands that a well-run church is a more fruitful church, and who wants to use their professional gifts in the service of gospel mission and ministry.

This isn’t a role for someone who wants to keep things ‘ticking over’ in a local church – it’s a role for someone who wants to help build something significant for the Kingdom of God, someone who wants their work to mean more people hear about Jesus.

We’re open to candidates at different stages of their journey — this could be the right role for someone stepping into dedicated ministry for the first time, or for someone more experienced who feels drawn to a new season. What matters most is a genuine sense of calling to what God is doing here, and a wholehearted desire to keep growing.

If that sounds like you, and you have skills and experience to move us forward, we’d love to hear from you — even if that means relocating to join us.

We’re looking for a Kids and Families Pastor to join our team: to continue overseeing the exciting growth of our Sunday ministry, including Bubble Church; invest further in our thriving toddler groups, and help us develop the vision for what’s next.

We’re not just looking for someone to run programmes — we’re looking for someone who is genuinely captivated by the idea that kids matter, that Jesus loves them, and that the gospel is as much for them as for anyone.

We’re looking for someone who is brilliant with children — the kind of person kids gravitate toward — but who is equally at home sitting with a parent over a cup of tea, earning trust, building relationships, and pointing people gently toward Jesus. We need someone who knows their Bible, teaches it accessibly and creatively, and does so with joy.

Most importantly perhaps, we want someone who will take the lead in prayer for our children and families. Everything we have seen so far has been an answer to prayer — we expect the next chapter to be the same.

If that sounds like you, and you have the gifts and experience to move us forward, we’d love to hear from you — even if that means relocating to join us.

Worship Leader (Internship)

Full-time or flexible | One year

Are you a gifted musician or vocalist looking to develop as a worship leader in a vibrant and growing church?

We have a superb opportunity for a young adult who feels called by God to full-time worship ministry.

We are a church in love with Jesus, pursuing intimacy with God in sung worship, welcoming his presence, delighting in new songs and responding to the movement of the Spirit in our midst.

God has blessed us with a church family of diverse ages and backgrounds with many new believers as well as those well established in the faith. Our future worship leader will delight in serving them all, leading with sensitivity and skill, and building a team culture which is representative of who we are.

As well as being a talented musician and vocalist, you will love God’s Word deeply. You will have a dependence on the Holy Spirit who leads you to invest as much in the secret place as on the platform. You will constantly be looking for the ‘more’ that God has for us in worship, and lead the way in fasting and praying for this area of our life together.

We have a small but talented team for you to help lead. You will be coached and mentored by our Vicar Al Metcalfe, an experienced worship leader who has served in large churches and nationally with the Message Trust, and you will be supported and encouraged daily by a dynamic staff team.

This role is designed as a one-year internship for a gifted young adult aged 18-25, perhaps as a first job for someone exploring full-time ministry in worship or pastoral leadership, or maybe even as a year to dig deep foundations for a life serving God in a different role.

We cannot provide a salary for this post but we can provide free accommodation, a modest living allowance, and we will cover your tickets to both the Leadership Conference and Focus.

It is not impossible that for the right person, this role might develop into employment, though we cannot promise this at the outset.

Interns for Children and Youth

Flexible | Six months to a year

Considering a year out? Looking to start out or grow in children’s or youth ministry?

If you're thinking about taking a year out, looking to learn more about God and grow in your character and gifting, there’s an opportunity for you with our team here at St Augustine’s Ipswich.

As well as lots of opportunities to grow and serve our church family and community, we will invest in you with a place at River College, free tickets to the HTB Leadership Conference, Focus and more.

Come and make a significant difference to our church and town.

For an informal chat, please contact our Vicar, Al Metcalfe at al.metcalfe@staugustinesipswich.org.uk
